Unless you were competing in the media free competition held over the past month then you know about Brett Favre.  If you are crazy enough about sports to watch ESPN or NFL Network and even listen to sports radio, then you have been immersed in all things Favre.

Finally some closure on a story with nothing but assumptions, cell phone reports, second and third guessing, and a cheese head in a pear tree.  I’m glad it’s over.  I heard the news driving .8 miles home from Mark’s house after a meeting.  What did I do?  I texted Mark of course.  What did he do?  He called me of course.  What did I do next?  I watched it on TV.

I was sooooo sick of hearing nothing but the latest rumors and false information of Favre going to Tampa Bay (he ended up with the New York Jets) but couldn’t help but follow since I had logged more than 3 weeks worth of the story.  I tried to get away from the whole mess though.  I started watching the NFL Network to get the latest on ALL the OTHER 31 teams in the NFL.  Nah, let’s cover this one story and forget the other 31 teams.

So now that it’s over I’m really happy.  But wait, is it over?  Next Tuesday is Maddenoliday, the release date of Madden 09 the 20th Anniversary of the all time great video game.  Who’s on the cover?  BRETT FAVRE!!!  It’s no secret John Madden has a man crush on Brett but I never thought it would come to this.  I guess he figured it was safe since Brett decided to retire.

You can read more about the history of the Madden Curse below.  Let me assure you it’s not the player that has been cursed this year.  It’s us!  If he hadn’t gone on the cover he would have stayed retired!  That’s right, we can’t escape it.  I even dreamed about it last night.  Not the man crush way Madden would have.  I was in Green Bay and at the New York press conference.  I couldn’t leave.  I had to be there and I had to listen.

If that was bad enough, I kept getting Twitter updates from Taylor about, Brett Favre!  It was a nightmare.  Thankfully Hailey got me out of the nightmare when she woke me up at 6:57am.  I’ve never been more happy to wake up that early ever.

All that being said, the New York Jets and Brett Favre are coming to San Diego to face the Chargers on Monday Night Football.  Who’s considering attending that game?  I am.
