Right now I’m in Starbucks finishing up my study prep for a three week series I’m doing @ The Hills.  Mark is nice enough to let me speak one week while he’s gone to Texas.  As if that’s not nice enough he said go ahead and do a three week series.  I’m doing a series called Imaginary Friends “Friendships worth having”.I did this series once in youth and now I’m revamping it to do it in a couple of weeks.  To introduce the series the first week will be called “Best Friends” outlining friendships in the Bible and how friendships are reflected in everyday living.  The second week is “Influence of Friendships” taking a look at Craig Groeschel’s book Chazown and his chapter on friendships.  The last week will be called “Friend of God”.

I have friends.  Ok, I have a friend.  Chasity.  To be honest I have a ton of friends who don’t consider me to be a friend but I’m counting them.  Working on this series again, just as it did last time caused me to reflect on the amazing friendships in my life.

Friends are for hanging out until early in the morning pretending you are on a video scavenger hunt so you can get free pizza.  Friends are good for racing laundry baskets in an empty laundry mat.  Friends are good for telling you the truth even when it’s not what you want to hear.  Friends are good for taking your side even though you are wrong.  Friends are good for enjoying moments in your life that resemble mile markers along the road of life.  Friends are good for making you laugh so hard water comes out of your nose while eating quesadilias.  Friends are good for venting when your team is horrible and it stinks to be a fan.  Friends are good for watching a game with when the team you are cheering on blows a lead and you throw a 2 litter bottle across the room.

BFF.  Best Friends Forever.  Hmmmm?  Maybe not to the extent that you always knew the friendship to be with the amount of time hanging out or the level of closeness you always enjoyed.  I have friendships that I would consider to be forever and I have some that I wish resembled that.  One thing is for sure, those friendships produced amazing experiences, joys, fights, feuds, tears, triumphs, and mile markers that will LAST forever.
